The Nature of It All

And awaken my body, birth me into death

It’s with the first glance that I take the last breath

And so with the wind that flowers in my presence

To blow at my feet and cool the evening essence

The halls echo and the rooms lay barren

The walls let go and resound with air-din

Sings in silence, this house of glass

A lonesome chamber, this too shall pass

Build me up and break me down

For it’s in you my trust resounds

To hear bed-ridden screams fly and fall

To raise a whisper and plunge from a call

Tease the waves from the breast of the shore

Pull them back, and trim from the floor

Foams the ocean, the cream of the sea

As you begin to dance with me

Leave me in peace, let me on the shore

Where I lay at ease, hands clamped on an oar

The sun goes down and cool tides froth again

To dip me in the dawn of the evening winds

Watch me from the waves, never to be seen

Keep me from the grave, never to demean

Wake me with the sunrise, warm me in the sun

Pull me from the backwash, and adorn me until I’m done
