What do you do when you forget your dreams?
You dream countless times every night,
but flipping through your memories, recall nothing
as your fantastical worlds fall to the morning’s light.
Worse, if you remember a dream, you fear it.
You look around the room, wide-eyed and afraid,
you feel yourself falling and wake up with a scream,
comforted when you realize it was just a charade.
So often, you want–or need–something bigger.
Every moment you pause to rest your eyes
you glare at a message that makes no sense;
it must be a greater meaning in disguise.
Yet, what do you do when your dreams are nothing
but fears of the past and unknowns of the future?
Your anxieties prey on your hidden fears,
your unconscious nothing but a moocher.
In these, all that remains to consider
when your dreams feel like they’ve gone forever,
is that they emerge from a force beyond control,
perhaps something you can never quite remember.
