i endure the night to see the sun rise

a cyclical scale with no end in sight

no matter how i try the sun sets again each time

another eventide takes me as its prize

degrading me with its baleful blight

but i endure the night to see the sun rise

for a moment i feel i’m in my prime

my star crossed reprieve, i’ll bask in her light

but no matter how i try the sun sets again each time

through the lachrymose goodbyes

i’ll look in myself and find respite

to endure the night and see the sun rise

i try to soar but like icarus i’m

a bird whose wings were clipped in flight

because no matter how i try the sun sets again each time

i rise and i fall, the same order each time

i’m an arpeggio, a ceaseless harmonious plight

no matter how i try the sun will set each time

but i’ll continue to endure, so i can see the sun rise
