Within each person lies a friend,
A friend that shows themself hardly at all
But is there nonetheless, and has been all your life.
A friend to hug you when you feel alone,
And a friend to love you when love burns you.
The companion inside your heart who protects you,
In sickness and in health.
To comfort you on sleepless nights
And make you smile when life is low.
They are there, ever present, in each one of you,
Ready to guide you, love you, support you and make you smile.
You need only ask, the only price for this friendship is everything you could never give.
It comes without ask, without question.
It simply is there.
Give back to yourself and rest easy,
The friend within is merely another version of you.
It is the one who has followed you all your life,
Never to leave you or disappoint you.
But they get lonely when you cannot find your way,
Cannot find yourself.
The only way that they can help you,
Can heal you,
Is when the love you direct at others is also directed at yourself.
Your inner companion can only thrive when you love yourself the way you have always deserved.
If your heart is a glass and everyone around you takes a drink, will there be any left for yourself?
No matter how much care and attention is given towards those around you,
Life can never give back to you if you don’t give to yourself.
Your conscience exists to show you how to love others but chiefly exists to
remind you of the care that one you ought to give yourself.
Give not criticism and scrutiny to thyself, but take joy and make great noise

One who will not desert you,
