Funnel to organ of corti
Neurotransmitter comply
Neglected nutrients in disarray
Glucose in short supply
And I sigh, cold and irritable
Pollution in the sky
Inhaling PM2.5
Permeating cell nuclei.

Caffeine, sucrose, cinnamon
Adenosine and bursts of adrenaline
The street expelled the bus
Indelible stains scar my skin
And in evanescent puffs of nicotine
Plucked strings of violin
Inhaling PM2.5
Impeding transport of porphyrin.

Overwhelmed and impulsive
Feet clamoring commotion
Edged on hypnagogia
Mind, a maze in motion.
And as the operator grasps my gaze
Keen to ask my name,
The haze of recognition stirs—I know you
But shame, a burden, perches my frame.
“No, I don’t recall so,”
I proclaimed.
