He didnโ€™t know I needed it,

But when he held the door I felt noticed.

She didnโ€™t know I needed it,

But when she let me in her lane I gained some hope for humanity.

They didnโ€™t know I needed it,

But that call from my childhood friend made the pain a little more bearable

She didnโ€™t know I needed it,

But my momโ€™s good morning text made the day a little brighter.

It got me thinking how often I do something

Small, and seemingly inconsequential

But that makes somebody feel seen.

How often do I think…

Someone else will hold the door.

Iโ€™m already running late to my appointment.

Iโ€™ll call next week.

They already know I love them.

Smiles to strangers

Save ruined days.

Slowing down leads to noticing opportunities.

You might not always know,

But to them it shows through.

And at the end of the day, we all need it too.
