The dance program at Orange Lutheran is about to reach new heights with their very own dedicated practice space. After years of steadily expanding and growing, they’re finally getting a studio to call their own. This new studio is an absolute necessity for the dance program, especially since they’ve been practicing in the Nechita Theater, where they’ve had to schedule around many other performance groups’ schedules. Having a dedicated space for the dance program at Orange Lutheran is going to be a complete game-changer. It will give the program new freedom and flexibility to polish their talent and get creative without any constraints. Just imagine the incredible performances and growth they’ll achieve when they have a space that’s always open for them to practice in. As of this year Miss Jennifer Blomquist, the Director of Dance, teaches four class periods during the school day and musical theater after school; which is simply incredible and unrealistic considering she doesn’t actually have a classroom. While previously, having to practice in the Nechita has posed a slight challenge for the dance program, with their brand new dedicated practice space, they won’t have to worry about availability anymore. Now the dance program will have the freedom to practice whenever they need to. After all the hard work and dedication, Miss Blomquist is finally able to give her incredible students something they’ve been longing for—a “space that’s always open for them.”
Over the summer, a major renovation and construction project began in the two hundred hallway to transform two classrooms into a fantastic dance studio. They’ve already made significant progress by removing the dividing wall, closing a doorway, and adding convenient cubby built-ins. The room is well on its way to completion, and we’re eagerly anticipating the final result! The construction project is expected to be finished by January, and we are so excited to see how it turns out! The new studio will have top-notch features like specialized flooring that’s perfect for dancing, a ballet bar for practicing those graceful moves, a mirror wall to help dancers perfect their technique, and even soundproofing to create a focused and immersive environment. It’s going to be an incredible practice room where the dancers can truly shine!
