The picture above depicts a stunning photograph of a mix of interstellar gas and dust within the Eagle Nebula. The amazing sight was captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in 1995 and named “The Pillars of Creation,” and many people were captivated by the fact that at that specific moment in time, the lighting, position, and formation of the phenomenon was just right in order for the picture to be taken. Although the structures in the image do resemble pillars, they also have a striking resemblance to the fingers of a human hand. This may be a reach for some, but instances of a resemblance of astronomical formations to the human body are not all that uncommon, and these resemblances all point to the sign of a higher power – a creator.

There are many events that occur within the universe that offer a strange, yet exciting similarity to features of the human body. A helix nebula, which can be described as a capsule of gas enclosed around a dying star, is often compared to the shape and image of a human eye. A gaseous nebula, better known as a double helix nebula bears a resemblance to the structure of DNA, both figures having the same twisted and intricate formation of a double helix. The stunning imagery of the death of a star is also compared to the birth of a cell, creating a striking dichotomy between an event that occurs out in the vast universe every couple of months and an event that occurs on a single planet every single second. Amazingly, even the construction of the human brain is similar to the widespread cosmic web that creates the universe. The neurons within the brain fire at an astounding rate, and the complexity of it is comparable to the intricate network of the universe.

Famed American astronomer Carl Sagan once said, “The ideal universe for us is one very much like the universe we inhabit.” In other words, the creation of life itself was very much executed with intention and detail. The level of detail and accuracy in creating such a perplexing yet remarkable universe could have only been achieved through the ultimate creator that so many across the world find faith in. God created the human race in His image, and the fact that humans have found similarities within themselves and the universe suggests that God was extremely considerate in placing our image within the vast expanse of the universe that they have the privilege of seeing every day. The amount of similarities between features of the human body and the intricate universe itself assert that there is a higher power at play, a creator that desires to form all life according to His design. God is the ultimate creator, and the intricacies of the universe and the human body are a testament to this; it is clear to see that there is intelligence and intent behind His designs.
