a sliver of sunlight that peaks through the gaps of a tree,
invites you with its warmth that coats your face
you take a deep breath and smell your childhood,
nostalgic memories.
you associate it with the perfect song
you grow abs from laughing,
content with your circle,
always laughing with and not at you
the sparkles of passion in people’s eyes
and their voices when they speak to animals
making someone laugh after they’ve been upset.
hitting every green light
while the beginning of your favorite song plays,
an unexpected sunset splattered across your windshield
an understanding smile from across the room
and a hearty compliment from a stranger.
the extra squeeze in a hug
and reminding yourself to savor the moment.
Experiencing is beautiful.
so stay grateful for the days that mistreat you
