As we navigate through the diverse tribulations (roadblocks) the global lockdown has set before us, the “Corona Quarantine” (as some might say) also, however, provides homestayers to assess their remote lifestyles. One may consider their likes and dislikes of remote work as well as what they may want to alter their work and what they enjoy doing to pass the protracted time in quarantine. On behalf of our global spell of boredom (particularly OLu’s), sophomores Daphne Stift, Tory Ko, Emily Couch, and junior Kassy Arnold were all kind enough to offer their standpoints on the effects of the current crisis at hand.

The following is from an interview between myself and sophomore Daphne Stift:

Me: “What is your favorite part about remote learning?”

Stift: “My favorite part about remote learning is the flexibility it allows in my schedule.”

Me: “What would you alter in remote learning (if there’s anything you’d want to change)?”

Stift: “I would probably enjoy creating more creative learning approaches and more face-to-face time.”

The following is from an interview between myself and sophomore Tory Ko:

Me: “What is your least favorite part about remote learning?”

Ko: “It’s still hard to [contact the] teachers right away when they don’t have a zoom meeting.”

Me: “What is your favorite way to pass time during the quarantine?”

Ko: “I look up colleges and make a scrapbook.”

The following is from an interview between myself and sophomore Emily Couch:

Me: “What is your favorite part about remote learning?”

Couch: “I really like being able to make my own schedule and routine, then when and even where I [want to] do my work during the day.”

Me: “What is your least favorite part about remote learning?”

Couch: “Not being able to go anywhere or actually have social contact with people stinks… I miss [having] conversations in class. It’s also sometimes harder to understand what your teacher wants because they explain directions mainly in emails.”

The following is from an interview between myself and junior Kassy Arnold:

Me: “What would you alter in remote learning (if there’s anything you’d want to change)?”

Arnold: “I would maybe make the workload less on computers and technology because it [feels] like I am always looking at a screen.”

Me: “What is your favorite way to pass time during the quarantine?”

Arnold: “I have learned to cook new recipes and [to play] new board games.”

Regardless of the impact that the Corona Virus has on us, never forget James 1:2-4, which says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Paige Heaney, sophomore, has loved creative writing since she was very young. Her works primarily take form in poems or fiction. A blank piece of paper is like an untouched canvas to her, where she depicts vivid images with words instead of drawings. She also enjoys reading, especially S.E. Hinton’s books such as The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. Aside from reading and writing, Paige loves making memories with her friends and family.
