Emotions run wild,

tears fill your eyes.

Sometimes you don’t know what to do,

except cry.

You sit in silence

thinking of what could’ve been,

while all along you just scream within.

School work is piling,

you feel like a fraud,

pretending to be smart,

when in reality you feel like you’re not.

You know that’s not true,

what you feel inside,

but it can be hard to realize that,

when all you do is want to cry.

A new year’s beginning,

a time to restart.

New year, less sadness,

more time to be joyful.

You know grief’s not forever,

and that this too will pass,

but right now it feels like

it will be an eternity for it to last.

Thank goodness for friends, and people so near,

no one is alone for they have people here.

Remember the memories,

and happy times you shared.

Don’t dwell on the sadness, but instead on the joy.

New Year, less stress,

better grades and better joy.

No matter how you’re feeling,

just know you’re not alone,

because there are people who love you,

and care for you as their own.
