Love is golden

capturing the sun’s radiance in your eyes

memorializing its light in the reflection.

Love is glittering

like the reflection of clouds on a peaceful lake

eliciting a sense of serendipitous appreciation

silently begging for acknowledgement.

Love is both reassuring and cruel

in how your presence

makes my existence less dreary,

granting me a semblance of contentment

I can only experience when with you.

Love is a dimly lit room

captured in digital photographs,

filling my head with questions

maybes and what ifs

anxious hope and anticipation.

Love is persistent

a constant question in my head

of its requital.

Love is undeterrable,

I would know

the way it clutches me tighter in its grasp

while reminding me

that you don’t reciprocate.

After all, why would you?

Kailey Chang, junior, has found fulfillment in the realm of literature from a young age, whether it be through consumption or creation of her own. When she’s not feeding her love for reading and writing, you can often find her in the arts studio working on ceramic pieces, or performing various types of traditional Korean dance. Chang looks forward to sharing her works with the student body this year and learning from the works of her peers as a writer for the OLu Muse.
