My desperation for knowledge knows no bounds.

A life lived without having thought every thought,
Without having read every book and pondered each word to complete understanding,
Without having watched every film and understood each interpretation of its composition,
Without having every conversation with every person alive,
My all consuming fear.

Years could be spent ruminating on a single thought,
A book could be read a thousand times,
A single movie clip replayed for days on end,
But the dull ache for more, for better, would remain unremedied.

It is a curse to have understood anything at all.
One cannot desire what he has no comprehension of.
If only I had been raised in ignorance,
Never to learn the vastness of knowledge,
Perhaps satisfaction would be in my grasp.

Instead, I am destined to ponder…

Kailey Chang, junior, has found fulfillment in the realm of literature from a young age, whether it be through consumption or creation of her own. When she’s not feeding her love for reading and writing, you can often find her in the arts studio working on ceramic pieces, or performing various types of traditional Korean dance. Chang looks forward to sharing her works with the student body this year and learning from the works of her peers as a writer for the OLu Muse.
