I remember you, old friend
When we sat on the grass and looked at the sky
Talking about the oncoming trend
How you said the sunset was so beautiful you could cry

I remember you, old friend
How as the days went by and years felt long
You were someone who I could always depend
Our friendship bond always stayed strong

I remember you, old friend
Perfectly in sync like a duet
A listening ear, you would always lend
As we sat staring at the sunset

I remember you, old friend
How when our lives were turned upside down
Your courage—something I’ll always commend
Showed me the positives and got rid of my frown

I remember you, old friend
How naïve I was to think
“Best friends forever till the end!”
Now your name is blotted out in ink

I remember you, old friend
Happiness was your name
If heartbreak was a contest you’d always contend
Old friend, I don’t like this game

I remember you, old friend
You taught me a lesson I won’t forget
While I’m afraid our road is a dead end
I’ll still wait at the end of the sunset
